Studio: Universal Pictures

Starring: Rowan Atkinson, Emma de Caunes, Jean Rochefort, Antoine de Caunes, Willem Dafoe

Plot Summary: Rowan Atkinson returns to the iconic role that made him an international star in “Mr. Bean’s Holiday.” In his latest misadventure, Mr. Bean–the nearly wordless misfit who seems to be followed by a trail of pratfalls and hijinks–goes on holiday to the French Riviera and becomes ensnared in a European adventure of cinematic proportions.

Tired of the dreary, wet London weather, Bean packs up his suitcase and camcorder to head to Cannes for some sun on the beach. Ah…vacation. But his trip doesn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped when the bumbling Bean falls face first into a series of mishaps and fortunate coincidences, far-fetched enough to make his own avant-garde film.

Wrongly thought to be both kidnapper and acclaimed filmmaker, he has some serious explaining to do after wreaking havoc across the French countryside and arriving at his vacation spot with a Romanian filmmaker’s precocious son and an aspiring actress in tow. Will Bean be arrested by the gendarmes or end up winning the Palme d’Or? It’s all caught on camera as Atkinson again applies his awkward athleticism to a comedy of errors in “Mr. Bean’s Holiday.”

Release date

24 March.

The Plot

Mr Bean has won first prize in his local church raffle - a video camera and a trip to Cannes in the south of France!

But in true Mr Bean style, things don't go to plan - and his journey across France becomes one comedy scene after another (all of which he films on his camcorder)!

Add Mr Bean's madness to a lost boy, a yoghurt advert, a film premiere and loads of French scenery and you've got a brilliant movie!

The Characters

Mr Bean!! You might not have seen him for a little while - his first film was 10 years ago - but he's a funny chap who doesn't say much but gets into HEAPS of trouble!

He's played by a very funny actor called Rowan Atkinson - who played Johnny English.

He teams up with Max Baldry, who plays Stepan, a Russian-speaking boy who gets separated from his father.

They meet up with French actress Sabine (Emma de Caunes) and the unlikely trio have a couple of adventures!

Funniest bit

It's a laugh a minute film - even when you can see the jokes coming. Here are a couple of the top gags:

Mr Bean's manic busking - ranging from opera (wearing a cardigan on his head) to Shaggy's Mr Boombastic (with lots of bottom shaking!!).

The seafood dinner scene. Mr Bean is served oysters (which he dumps in a handbag) and prawns in their shells (which he eats whole - even with their tentacles and eyes. YUCK).

Best bit

It's really hard to choose but there's a really funny bit when Mr Bean is dressed up as an extra in an advert - and causes chaos.

Any weak bits?

You'd think that this film would be total slapstick but actually it's got a good plot and the photography is amazing - so no weak bits!

Hit or miss?

Hit. You'll be surprised at how good this film is
